Frequently Asked Questions

Many scholarships indicate “to be elaborated on in a separate response.” Do I need to submit a response for each scholarship I would like to be considered for?

A separate paragraph/short essay may be required for select (Type II) scholarships. This is in addition to the general essay. The benefactor of the particular scholarship is looking for a candidate with certain qualities. Responses are required for consideration for those particular scholarships, but should only be completed if applicable.

For the Type III scholarships that require a department chair recommendation, do I need to get the recommendation from the department chair?

No. The department chairs’ are aware of the scholarships to be awarded and the department chairs will make the recommendation to the committee as to who should be awarded the scholarship.

I lost letter with the QR code. How can I access the application?

The online application along with a copy of the letter are available on the Scholarships page of this website.

May I handwrite my application?

No. Beginning in 2026 all applications must be submitted via the online form. Transcripts and teacher recommendations will be sent to the committee direct from the school.

How do I know if my application is complete?

A confirmation will appear on screen once you submit the online application. You will also have an option to select an email confirmation when submitting.

Are late applications accepted?

Only applications submitted online by midnight on the deadline will be considered.

When are the scholarships awarded?

The scholarships are awarded at the Senior Evening of Recognition generally held in mid-May. Recipients will be invited to attend but the actual scholarship(s) awarded is only announced at the Senior Evening of Recognition.
